Brownies

Here is a recipe for brownies, they work out to 1.5:1 ratio perfectly.  They are very moist and light while still having the great chocolate-y flavor you crave when you want a brownie!  If you want a more “cake like” brownie that holds together a little better, reduce the applesauce by about 50g and add an additional egg (about 50g).  They will still be a 1.5:1 ratio.  They contain NO NUTS so these are school friendly!

1.5:1 ratio

total calories for the entire recipe are 1274 (79.6 calories each if cut into 16 brownies)

Ingredients

113g butter, room temperature (1 stick)

20g Truvia (6 packets)

8g pure vanilla extract, (NOT Bickfords!) (2 teaspoons)

100g raw egg, mixed well (about 2 large)

200g apple sauce, no sugar added (forgot to measure this!, maybe about 1/3 cup)

30g Hershey’s Cocoa Powder, unsweetened (1/3 cup)

47g coconut flour (1/2 cup)

2g baking powder (1/2 teaspoon)

2g baking soda(1/2 teaspoon)

Directions

Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees. Mix the first 5 ingredients together until the butter is well combined.  Add in the dry ingredients and stir with a spatula to evenly incorporate everything.  Pour batter into a well-greased 8×8 pan.  Bake for at least 30 minutes, longer for a drier brownie.  Let them cool before slicing!

    • I will add the carb count later today. Also, go with the extra egg.. I made these a few times and I prefer them that way because they hold together better.
